This standard song played in the key of C and adding some optional chords
and new techniques that will be challenging for the novice, but may be within
reach with practice, and will be rewarding. My intent is to make this standard song
accessible to the novice. Palm muting can be used liberally through out the tune,
while playing at a relaxed tempo.

[Intro chord shapes]
   C Edim Dm7 G
e|-0----3----1----3--|
B|-1----2----1----0--|
G|-0----3----2----0--|
D|-2----2----0----0--|
A|-3----x----x----2--|
E|-x----x----x----3--|

(The intro is optional, but adds a lot to the song. The G is played as an up rake,
concentrating on strings 2-6.)

[Verse chord shapes]
   C C/G G G7 F/C Fm A7 Dm7
e|-0---0-----3---1-----1----1-----0---1----|
B|-1---1-----0---0-----1----1-----2---1----|
G|-0---0-----0---0-----2----1-----0---2----|
D|-2---2-----0---0-----3----3-----2---0----|
A|-3---x-----2---2-----3----3-----0---x----|
E|-x---3-----3---3-----x----x-----x---x----|

Again, as in the intro, the G chord sounds good as an uprake throught the verse.

[Chorus chord shapes]
   E7 A7 D7 A G D Eb9+5 *or* Eb9+5
e|--0---0----2----0----3----2---1----------x--|
B|--0---2----1----2----0----3---0----------6--|
G|--1---0----2----2----0----2---0----------4--|
D|--0---2----0----2----0----0---1----------5--|
A|--2---0----x----0----2----x---x----------6--|
E|--0---x----x----x----3----x---x----------x--|

Basic chords, with the exception of the Eb9+5 chord. Two shapes are shown
with the first shape being the easier to play and the second shape being
more difficult to reach, but much better tonally. Either way, these chords
are plucked as single notes from the lowest note to the highest note while
singing the words "be - lieve me". This is optional and could be played
as a strummed G7, but the Eb9+5 adds interest, and the plucked notes while
singing is probably something new for novice level players.
